As I have been looking at all mainstream magazines so far, I think its essential to look at a magzine with a niche audience specified to certain groups of people. Shindig is a magazine which sells just 26,000 copies a month compared to magazines like Top of the Pops which sells hundred of thousands a month. This is due to the fact that it only covers 4 types of rare music genres these are, Mod, Garage Rock, Psych and Freakbeat. These aren't the most popluar music genres as they are from the 60's therefore not really appealing to a younger modern audience. 1 issue costs £4.95 and an annual is £11, this is a lot more than modern music magazines which appeal to much bigger audience.
Are you not inspired by Shindig!'s innovative approach to design? And isn't it cool that you can appeal to such niche audiences?
